SAN DIEGO, CA –Today, San Diego City Councilmember Barbara Bry announced her endorsement of environmental attorney Mike Levin for the 49th District Congressional seat currently held by Republican Darrell Issa.
“With his experience working with San Diego’s Center for Sustainable Energy and UC San Diego to protect our region’s bountiful, precious natural resources, Mike Levin is ready on day one to relentlessly advocate for federal funding that will preserve our environment and our quality of life.” Councilmember Barbara Bry said.
“I am impressed by Mike’s two decades of fighting for progressive values and how he is building a grassroots-driven campaign, which will harness the energy and enthusiasm of countless residents who feel their voice is not being heard by this current administration,” Bry added. “I look forward to working with him to champion federal policies that will help San Diego stay safe, clean, and prosperous.”
Councilmember Bry’s endorsement demonstrates the growing consensus that Mike Levin is best prepared to defeat Darrell Issa and deliver results for the 49th Congressional District on day one.
“I am deeply honored to have Councilmember Bry’s support, since she has deep roots in the community and is the first high-tech entrepreneur on the San Diego City Council,” Levin said. “I look forward to working with her to help create jobs in the innovation economy and other high-growth industries that are driving the future of our region.”
Levin was raised in South Orange County, where he attended public schools. He graduated from Stanford University, where he served as student body president, and Duke University School of Law. He was the Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Orange County and has worked since as an environmental attorney and clean energy advocate. For the last two decades, he has been involved in a variety of local, state and federal progressive political campaigns.
Recently, The New York Times called Darrell Issa “the nation’s most vulnerable incumbent.”
