Mike Levin Selected as Truman National Security Project Political Partner for 2018
Truman National Security Project, a nationwide membership of diverse leaders inspired to serve in the aftermath of 9/11 and committed to shaping and advocating for tough, smart national security solutions, has selected Democrat Mike Levin, the leading contender in California’s pivotal 49th Congressional District, as a Political Partner for 2018. Truman Project Political Partners are aspiring or actively serving public officials who advance progressive principles and a shared worldview at all levels of civil society.
“I am honored to be a part of Truman National Security Project and believe that America is strongest when we stand with our allies to lead, support, and defend a growing global community of free people and just societies,” said Mike Levin. “I look forward to working with fellow Truman members on concrete solutions that will help shape the debate towards a progressive foreign policy,” he added.
Truman National Security Project has a nationwide membership of post-9/11 veterans, frontline civilians, policy experts, and political professionals who share a common vision of U.S. leadership abroad. Hailing from 16 Chapters and 47 different states across the nation, more than 1,500 Truman members believe in a strong, smart, and principled foreign policy that sees the United States leading a growing community of nations towards shared security and prosperity. Truman members believe that America is at its best when we use all the tools in our toolbox: diplomacy, defense, development, and democracy promotion.
Levin is the leading contender against Darrell Issa, the Republican currently holding CD49. Issa has been named the most vulnerable incumbent in Congress. The 49th includes communities in northern San Diego and southern Orange counties. Levin’s Truman National Security Project membership is independent of his congressional run.
