The Mike Levin for Congress campaign is releasing an eight-and-a-half-minute documentary detailing how his GOP opponent, Diane Harkey, has funded her campaigns with the profits from a real estate Ponzi scheme that defrauded scores of seniors.
The documentary is at www.truthaboutharkey.com.
The scam corporation, Point Center Financial, listed Diane Harkey as Corporate Secretary and her husband, Dan, as President. After the scheme collapsed, it was found liable for $12.5 million in damages and found guilty of 11 counts of financial elder abuse.
The documentary interviews several investors who lost substantial sums of money and have recovered little or nothing. Diane Harkey, on the other hand, has used more than $1.5 million in profits to fund her repeated political campaigns for City Council, Assembly, State Senate, Board of Equalization and Congress.
During Harkey’s Board of Equalization campaign in 2014, the San Diego Union Tribune reviewed Diane Harkey’s involvement and pronounced her “unsuitable for public service.”
“It is truly mind-boggling that someone with her history would be seriously considered as a candidate for Congress,” stated Levin’s consultant Parke Skelton. “We are going to give every voter in CA49 multiple opportunities to see this documentary and make up their own minds.”
