SOLANA BEACH, CA –Today, Solana Beach School Board member and community leader Rich Leib announced his endorsement of environmental attorney Mike Levin for the 49th District Congressional seat currently held by Republican Darrell Issa.
“Mike Levin has a strong record of environmental and clean energy advocacy, and has two decades of experience in Democratic politics,” said Leib. “Mike’s campaign is off to a great start and he has what it takes to defeat Darrell Issa next year. More importantly, having worked for a member of Congress myself, I know that Mike will be an effective representative for residents of the 49th Congressional District.”
“I am very grateful to have Rich Leib’s support,” said Levin. “Rich has a long history of community advocacy, both on the Solana Beach School Board and a variety of non-profit and civic organizations. I look forward to working with him to ensure that our education system prepares students well for the jobs of the future, including in clean energy and other growth industries.”
Leib currently serves as an elected member of the Solana Beach School Board. He previously served as the President of the Board of Governors of the California Community College System, as an appointee of the Governor. Leib is a co-founder of Liquid Environmental Solutions, and is responsible for the company’s legal, environmental and regulatory affairs. Before entering the private sector, Leib served on the legislative staff of two California State legislators and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Levin was raised in South Orange County, where he attended public schools. He graduated from Stanford University, where he served as student body president, and Duke University School of Law. He was the Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Orange County and has worked since as an environmental attorney and clean energy advocate. For the last two decades, he has been involved in a variety of local, state and federal progressive political campaigns.
