ENCINITAS, CA –Today, Encinitas City Councilmember Tasha Boerner Horvath announced her endorsement of environmental attorney Mike Levin for the 49th District Congressional seat currently held by Republican Darrell Issa.
“Mike Levin will be a champion for the residents of Encinitas in Washington, D.C. and the issues that matter most to us in North County – clean beaches, a strong local economy, world-class education, and helping us trench the tracks,” said Councilmember Boerner Horvath. “I am impressed by his background as an environmental attorney and clean energy advocate, as well as over two decades of a track record of service on progressive issues at the local, state and national level,” she added.

Councilmember Boerner Horvath is a third-generation Encinitan and the mother of two young children. She was elected to the Encinitas City Council on November 8, 2016. Formerly a Planning Commissioner, she built a reputation of implementing reasonable, smart solutions that respect community character of all five of Encinitas’ communities. She is passionate about crafting practical solutions that ensure the quality of life for everyone in Encinitas.
Levin was raised in South Orange County, where he attended public schools. He graduated from Stanford University, where he served as student body president, and Duke University School of Law. He was the Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Orange County and has worked since as an environmental attorney and clean energy advocate. For the last two decades, he has been involved in a variety of local, state and federal progressive political campaigns.
