Last week, I announced my candidacy for United States Congress against Republican Congressman Darrell Issa. I am grateful and humbled by the grassroots support we’ve received from across the country, as well as extensive coverage:
San-Diego Union Tribune: Environmental attorney Mike Levin announces campaign against Darrell Issa
Orange County Register: Democratic activist Mike Levin joins race against Rep. Darrell Issa
Roll Call: Second Democrat Jumps into Issa Race
Times of San Diego: OC Attorney to Challenge Rep. Darrell Issa in 2018
Then, this past weekend, Darrell Issa had his first Town Hall in seven years, and I got a chance to ask him a question, face to face, about climate change and his blind support for Donald Trump’s damaging environmental policies. Here’s our exchange:
In a preview of their upcoming showdown, Levin and Issa had a tense exchange over the environment before the congressman cut him off.
“If you’re fortunate enough to go to Congress, you’re going to discover that dialogue is possible,” Issa said, to renewed boos and jeers.
It may seem like the election is a long way off. But the time to act is now.
I have committed myself to raise $100,000 by March 31 – the first deadline for public financial disclosure. If I can do that, I will go a very long way towards uniting the Democratic Party behind my candidacy, and proving I am best prepared to take on – and defeat – Darrell Issa.
