Environmental attorney and clean energy advocate Mike Levin has been endorsed for Congress in CD49 by the influential California League of Conservation Voters.
Known as the electoral arm of the environmental movement, CLCV and their national body, LCV, are huge players in local, state and federal races.
CLCV’s Interim Executive Director Rebecca Saltzman stated:
“Mike Levin is a proven environmental leader. For over a decade he has been working to transition the fossil fuel economy to a sustainable energy future. Mike Levin will stand up to the environmental threats posed by the Trump Administration, fight to prevent off-shore oil drilling, clean up the radioactive waste mess at San Onofre, and keep America in the international consensus to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are proud to endorse Mike Levin for Congress.”
This critical endorsement follows on the heels of Levin’s on his extremely strong showing at the California Democratic Party endorsement caucus, where he received 57% of the vote in the five candidate field.
“The CLCV endorsement is a game changer,” responded Mike Levin. “Here in this environmentally conscious district, voters are looking for the candidate they can trust to preserve our natural beauty and protect our precious coastline. I am honored that CLCV has recognized my work on behalf of a clean, sustainable energy future, and that they are supporting me for Congress.”
With more than 2 million members, LCV is one of the nation’s most significant grassroots progressive organizations. They join the National Organizations for Women (NOW), Democracy for America (DFA), and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee in endorsing Mike Levin in this bellwether district.
Democrat Levin is running to replace the retiring Darrell Issa is what is recognized as one of the most competitive races in the country.
