Mike Levin, Democratic candidate against Congressmember Darrell Issa in the 2018 election, released the following statement after Issa cast the 216th and deciding vote passing legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
By casting the deciding vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Darrell Issa has chosen to deny at least 24 million American families access to affordable health care. Issa’s vote will particularly impact the nearly 30% of Americans, including over 300,000 in his own Congressional District, who have a preexisting medical condition, who will find it harder or impossible to obtain the coverage they desperately need.   In return, the wealthiest Americans, people like Darrell Issa and Donald Trump, will receive a massive tax cut.  Darrell Issa should be ashamed of his callous disregard for the health and well-being of the people he is sworn to serve.
